Have you ever watched someone - talented, diligent, and genuinely doing the work - run into the same frustrating obstacles again and again? Maybe you've even been that someone. From the outside, it can feel like a streak of bad luck… or worse, like you are “cursed.”
But from where I sit, in the work I do with the subconscious mind, there’s always something much deeper at play.
Recently, someone reached out to ask about a friend who seemed to be caught in a pattern: several big projects, all stuck or falling apart, despite his best efforts. And not for lack of skill - he’s a project manager by trade, one of the most organized and driven people she knows. But still… nothing is moving forward for her friend.
Here’s what I shared with her, and it’s something I want you to hear, too:
Sometimes what looks like a curse is actually a subconscious conflict between what we consciously want and what a part of us subconsciously wants, believes or expects. The subconscious mind prioritizes safety over success, ease, or even happiness (unless NOT having that is preferred - I'll get to that in a minute.) But if a part of us associates success with danger, rejection, burnout, or some kind of risk, it will quietly resist progress to keep us safe. The result? That tug-of-war dynamic: the harder one part pushes, the more another part slams on the brakes.
And there’s more.
If chaos, failure, or “things falling apart” was the "vibe" of someone’s emotional landscape growing up - if that energy became familiar - then even without the original source of that chaos, the subconscious may try to recreate it. Not to sabotage, but to restore what it thinks is “normal.” The subconscious is like a junkie for the familiar. It will get its fix one way or another - through circumstances around us or turmoil inside us.
Sometimes, parts of us are even loyal to a belief like “I don’t get what I want.” So when we start getting what we want, those parts get uneasy. They pull us back to familiar ground, where we know how to cope. Because let’s be real: comfort zones aren’t always comfortable, they’re just predictable.
And still, another layer might be at play: a perceptual filter. If someone has a deeply ingrained belief that life is hard, that nothing comes easy, or that struggle equals worth, then the subconscious will go out of its way to deliver those exact experiences. Beliefs shape perception, and perception becomes reality—until we shift the belief.
So where do you begin?
With curiosity. Not problem-solving.
Try asking:
🔹 “What would have to change in my beliefs for this to go differently?”
🔹 “What part of me might feel unsafe with everything going well?”
These questions are more than just reflection - they’re keys to the door of real change.
If this resonates - if you or someone you love is stuck in a cycle that doesn’t make sense on the surface - just know that there is a way to shift it. Working with the subconscious allows us to uncover what’s really driving the pattern and gently rewire it from the inside out.
Sometimes, what looks like a curse is actually an invitation…
An invitation to listen more closely.
To realign with the highest version of ourselves.
And to break free - for good.
Ready to find out what your subconscious has been trying to tell you?
Let’s explore it together.
Because change gets a whole lot easier when your inner world is finally on your side.
